New Delhi: All India Petroleum Dealers’ Association has announced a nationwide strike on October 13, demanding to address several long pending issues.
According to sources, at least 54,000 petrol pumps across India will remain closed for 24 hours on October 13. The petrol pump dealers have also threatened to go on indefinite strike from October 27, if the demands are not met.
Previously, the petrol and diesel dealers had called off their proposed strike over the daily revision of petrol and diesel prices after the government agreed to change the timing to 6 am every day instead of midnight.
As per sources, the dealers are protesting because state-run oil marketing companies had ignored their demands since an agreement was signed in November 2016.
According to reports, their demands include revisions of dealer margins every six months, better terms for return on investment, resolution of manpower issues and resolution of issues related to transportation and ethanol blending.
