Accused in Swathi’s Murder Case Ramkumar Dies Committing Suicide Inside the Jail

In the murder case of a techie girl Swathi, Ramkumar was arrested with charges of murder. He was imprisoned in “Puzhal prison” in Chennai. According to the prison authority, Ramkumar tried to commit suicide by biting the electric wires in the jail. Following which he was taken to the hospital and died on the way.

Ramkumar’s body is kept in the Royapettai Government Hospital, Chennai. According to the reports, the incident of suicide attempt in the prison took place at 4.45 p.m. today (18/09/2016). Meanwhile, Ramkumar’s advocate Ramaraj came to the Royapettah Government Hospital to see Ramkumar’s body. However, police refused to allow Ramaraj.

Accused Ramkumar Dies in Prison

Following this incident there was picket outside the Royapettah hospital condemning Ramkumar’s death. Police officials arrived to the spot and had negotiation with the protesters & Ramkumar’s lawyers, following which it was dropped.

Meanwhile, doctor from Royapettah Government Hospital said Ramkumar has died due to electrocution. Electricity has passed on his cheek and chest, as per the government hospital’s report.

Ramkumar’s father Paramasivam denied the reports of suicide and said his son was killed inside the prison. Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi’s (VCK) supremo Thol. Thirumavalavan and other leaders are demanding a strong probe on Ramkumar’s death incident.
