Chennai: Police have rescued a three-year-old boy, who was abducted from his house in R.K. Nagar, a few hours after the incident was reported.
According to reports, security camera footage showed a young boy riding a bicycle took away Mohammed Sathu with him when he was playing outside his house in Nethaji Nagar second street, R.K. Nagar.
Cops rescued the child on Tuesday and found that the suspect was a 14-year-old Class IX student.
As per sources, police received a breakthrough when two residents of Karneshwar Nagar, Korrukupet, saw images of the teen in the news and informed them. The informants said that the suspect resembled a teen in their locality.
They took two policemen to the teen’s house where they found the child. “We found Mohammed Sathu in the teen’s house in Korrukupet, barely 2KM from where he took away the child,” said a police official.
The teen said that he wanted to play with Mohammed in his house. “We are trying to determine his real motive,” added the police official.
Police officials are also probing role of the teen’s parents in the case.
