Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is practicing naturopathy at the Jindal Nature Cure Institute in the outskirts of Bengaluru. He had joined a ten-day naturotherapy session to get treatment for his chronic cough and diabetes.
The specialty charitable naturopathy and yoga hospital stays in an eco friendly campus of 100 acres. He goes for a walk followed by yogic kriya and pranayama. He is on a liquid medicinal diet- bitter gourd juice, ginger tea, tulsi kadha, and juices of green leafy vegetables.
Doctors said that, Lifestyle changes need to be incorporated after the treatment. He is on a 10 day treatment. He should avoid fried foods and sweets as he is having diabetes. He should take food on time and at regular intervals with adequate sleep to keep the diabetes under control.
With this treatment, Kejriwal’s cough and blood sugar level have considerably dropped. He has adjusted well to the strict regime and was able to go through various yogic exercises and therapies. Wakes up at 5 a.m., he goes on a 30-minute walk and does mediation, followed by breathing exercise, cleansing body with Kriya technique, acupuncture, mud therapy and oil massage.
In Naturopathy treatment no medicines are given. Kejriwal is under a 12-hour regime from 5.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. for detoxifying his body and restoring normalcy in his basic health. Naturopathy is the drug free guide to good health.
To keep him in a stress free environment, Kejriwal has been asked by the doctors not to use mobile phones and not to reading newspaper.
Jindal Naturecure Institute medical director Babaina Nandakumar said the treatment regime was continuous, from morning to evening, with a 30-minute gap each for breakfast, lunch, afternoon rest and supper.
How does naturopathy work?
Nature cure believes in handling the first task first, that is removing what should not be there, before putting in what needs to be there. So the turn of nutrition/supplements (herbs/foods that heal) comes after cleansing. Take vitamins and minerals. In deficient conditions, modern medicine prescribes copious quantities of the chemical-based, lab-produced tablets, most of which is rejected by the body. It is wiser to have natural, organic supplements, like aloe vera, spirulina or B-Propilis.
Kejriwal’s parents Gobind Ram and Gita Devi are staying with him. Kejriwal’s mantra – Naturopathy for good health is working well as he is scheduled to return to Delhi March 16 after the 10-day treatment at the institute.
