AIADMK (All India Anna Dravida Munetra Kazhagham) presence at the concluding rally against corruption by BJP leader L.K.Advani at Ramlila Grounds gave room to speculation about AIADMK’s future inclination in nation’s politics. AIADMK’s supremo and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha ‘s special emissary M.Thambidurai was a special guest at the conclusion of senior BJP leader L.K. Advani’s Jan Chetna Yatra in the capital on Sunday.
While Advani made special mention of Thambidurai’s presence at the rally and said that the state of Tamil Nadu(a state which did not have a single BJP MLA or MP) had witnessed an unprecedented response to his yatra. Thambidurai was non committal on the AIADMK joining the BJP- led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). “ These questions are discussed and decided by the leadership(Jayalalitha). I only expressed Madam’s greetings to Advanijee on his campaign to dpread awareness on corruption . On issues like 2G spectrum allocation case, non-UPA parties (including the AIADMK) and the NDA made common cause. This issue along with a stand against dynastic politics, brought us to power in the State , but issues of alliance can only be discussed by our leadership,” said Thambidurai during an interaction with the media.
It may be noted that Advani had requested for Jayalalitha’s presence at the rally, who,in turn, deputed Thambidurai for the rally. The AIADMK’s gesture assumes significance, as it comes ahead of the winter session of Parliament which starts on Tuesday. The BJP lead NDA is planning to corner the UPA government on the issues of corruption, price rise and black money. Earlier, The AIADMK supremo had also sent Thambidurai for Narendra Modi’s Sadbhavna fast in Ahmedabad.
