Chennai: Putting an end to all the speculations, superstar Kamal Haasan and filmmaker Shankar have confirmed that they will join hands for the sequel of the 1996 release ‘Indian’.
Shankar, who appeared at the grand finale of Bigg Boss Tamil on Saturday along with ace producer Dil Raju, announced that he will be helming ‘Indian 2’ with Kamal Haasan.
The movie will be made as a bilingual in Tamil and Telugu and Dil Raju will produce both the versions.
“I always wanted to do sequels after finishing every film. But things don’t fall in place. About three years ago, I got an idea for Indian 2 and at the same time, I got busy with my other projects. Last two years we had been working on a theme and I was determined to make that into a film. I thought it will be my next film after 2.0 and I am happy that Indian 2 is happening,” said Shankar.
‘Indian 2’ will be dubbed into Hindi as ‘Hindustani 2’.
Kamal Haasan earned applauds for his powerful performance in Indian. He had played the role of a patriotic man, who is on a mission to end corruption.
The 62-year-old actor also said that he was very happy about the announcement at such a big event. “We here have a bunch of celebrities (Bigg Boss ex-contestants). And more than six core people are watching this show on television. I have never been part of such a big film launch,” said Haasan, who will play a lead role In Indian 2.
The shooting of the film is expected to begin from April 2018.
