There is no objection on the release of film “Lingaa”. However, it has been ordered that a deposit of Rs. 10 Crore has to be paid in the court. Rajinikanth has acted in dual role in the film Linga (Lingaa), directed by K.S.Ravikumar. In this film, two heroins have acted with Rajini. Sonakshi Sinha and Anushka Shetty have acted in Lingaa pairing with Superstar Rajinikanth. A.R.Rahman has composed for this mega movie. Rajinikanth’s friend, Rockline Venkatesh has produced this film in a huge budget. Recently, a person Ravi Rathinam had filed a case in the Madras High Court’s branch in Madurai claiming that the story of the film “Lingaa” belongs to him.
In the petition by Ravi Ratnam, it has been said that he debuted as director by the film “Mullaivanam 999”. This film’s storyline is all about Mullaiperiyar Dam and its chief engineer Pennycuick. That story has been uploaded on YouTube. They have stolen the “Mullaiperiyaar 999” film’s story and made Lingaa film. This film has been produced by Rockline Venkatesh, directed by K.S.Ravikumar, music composed by A.R.Rahman and acted by Rajinikanth. I have asked the Thallakkulam (Madurai) police to register a complaint. Please direct the police to take action on this issue – the petition said.
Rajinikanth gave explanation to this petition saying, this petition is submitted with other intentions. There is evidence to trap me in this case. Other than action in this film as an artist, I don’t have any other contribution in it. The petitioner has filed this case to defame my name and for the petitioner to seek to popularity. The same way, director K.S.Ravikumar and story writer Pon. Kumaran have given their explanation.
This cases inquiry was over and the verdict was postponed. In this situation, on December 3, 2014, Justice Venugopal had ordered by rejected this case. Further, this Court has also advised the petitioner that he can approach the Civil Court seeking compensation.
Again, the petitioner Ravi Ratnam had appealed further challenging this verdict. This case had come before Justice Danabalan and Justice Velumani for further investigation. These Judges have again advised the petitioner that he has to approach the Civil Court for compensation and acknowledged the earlier verdict. Also, said that they cannot ban the movie “Linga” (Lingaa). If the verdict goes in favour of the petitioner, the film unit may need to give compensation. To ensure the hassle free legal proceedings, producer Rockline Venkatesh has to pay Rs. 5 crore to the Madurai Court and must show a bank guarantee of bail charges Rs. 5 crore tomorrow.
