Supreme Court to Give Verdict on Sterlite Shut down


A case has been filed in Supreme Court against Sterlite plant in Tuticorin. The Supreme Court is to pass order on the case regarding this today. Lawyer Rajiv Dhawan appeared on behalf of Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board, stated that the toxic gas released from the factory is affecting people over there and it causes health issues. Thus the District Collector passed order to shut down the Industry.

Similarly on the plaintiff’s side MDMK General Secretary Vaiko appeared. He explained the damage to the public people because of the Factory. Following this, he stated that on 30th of March, Tamilnadu Pollution Control Board ordered to shut down the Factory. The justice of Supreme Court state that the Pollution Control Board have rights to decide on these issues.
