Chennai: Filmmaker T Rajendar faced massive criticism for insulting ‘Vizhithiru’ actress Dhanshika, who failed to mention his name while crediting her teammates at an event.
Dhanshika was attending an event to promote her upcoming movie ‘Vizhithiru’ along with the filmmaker and her co-stars Venkat Prabhu, Viddharth and Krishna. While thanking people who worked with her in the movie, the actress forgot to mention Rajendar’s name.
Irked by this, Rajendar insulted Dhanshika on the stage. He said, “Dhanshika acted with Superstar she did ‘Vizhithiru’; that’s why she’s asking who is T Rajendar. It’s not as if my life depends on her saying my name.”
When she tried to get up and apologize, he said, “Please sit. You are a big artist.”
He also said, “You did not come in a saree so there’s no need for you to say sorry. You need to know about manners on stage, learn to respect others.”
None of Dhanshika’s co-star interrupted and tried to stop Rajendar. They were seen laughing and clapping.
After this incident, many people including celebrities came forward on social media in support of the actress.
Vishal, President of Tamil Nadu Producers’ Council and an actor/producer criticised what T Rajendar did.
Actress Priya Anand tweeted, “You handled yourself with soo much grace @SaiDhanshika Good on you.”
On the other hand, actress Divya Dharshi tweeted, “U held urself with grace on that stage. ur taught with very good meadai nagareengam my girl, yevlo mariyadaiya nadanthukiteenga.”
Not just that, Venkat Prabhu, Vidharth and Krishna also faced severe blacklash on Twitter for not supporting Dhanshika.
