Tuticorin Fisherman Returned Home

The fishermen taken into the custody of Srilankan Navy have been released and returned home today. The fishermen are allowed to go to their native after the investigation of Fisheries department.


16 Fishermen of Tuticorin district went for fishing last week in 3 boats. The fishermen who were fishing in 52 miles away from Tharuvaikulam were attacked by Srilankan Navy and arrested. Later the 16 fishermen who were lodged by the Navy have been released after the order from Supreme court. They were handed over to Indian Navy officials in international Sea border.

The fishermen brought to Tuticorin habour today morning and investigation carried out with them. Then the fishermen were sent to their home. The relative and friends of the fishermen celebrated their return to home with sweets and crackers.
